Privacy policy
The short version: the barcode data you type stays on your device, we do not ask you to register, and the only third party involved is our analytics provider described below.

Data you enter into the tools
Barcode values, bulk lists, validator input and camera frames are processed entirely by JavaScript running on your own device. None of it is transmitted to us or stored on a server, and we therefore cannot see, retrieve or disclose it.
Files you download are generated locally by your browser. Anything you keep in the tool disappears when you close or reload the page.
Advertising
The site is currently free to use and does not display advertising. If advertising is introduced in the future, this policy will be updated before any ads go live.
Where consent is required (GDPR or similar rules), a notice is shown before Google Analytics starts, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count page views and see which tools are used. It sets cookies and records coarse technical information such as page path, referrer, approximate country, and browser and device type. In regions where consent is required it only starts after you accept. It does not build an advertising profile of you, and we never combine it with the barcode data you enter — which, as above, we do not receive at all.
Cookies used on this site
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics, as described above. This is the only third-party cookie the site sets.
- Consent cookie — remembers your analytics consent choice where a consent notice applies, so you are not asked on every visit.
- We do not set cookies for logins, carts or tracking you between sessions, because the site has no accounts.
Where our content and data come from
- Barcode rules — lengths, character sets and check-digit algorithms are implemented from the published GS1 General Specifications and the applicable ISO/IEC standards.
- Rendering — barcode images are produced on your device by bwip-js, an open-source library. It runs locally and makes no network requests of its own.
- Sample values — invented for demonstration; they do not come from, and are not checked against, any product database.
- We hold no product, company or consumer database, and we buy or sell no personal data.
Email you send us
If you write to service@barcode.best, we keep your message and address for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up. It is not used for marketing and not shared with anyone else.
Children
The site is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, to object to processing, or to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Because we operate no accounts and receive no barcode data, the data we could hold about you is limited to any email correspondence and the analytics records described above.

Changes to this policy
