The service

Barcode.Best provides free, browser-based tools for generating, validating and scanning barcodes. No account is required. We may change, add or withdraw tools and features, and we may stop offering the site, at any time and without notice.

What you may do with the output

Barcode images you create here are yours to use, including commercially, with no attribution requirement, no export limit and no watermark. You are responsible for checking that the code scans correctly at your chosen print size and for making sure the value it encodes is one you are entitled to use.

GTINs are not issued here

This is the most important limit of this service. The site can produce a technically valid EAN, UPC, ITF-14 or GS1-128 symbol, but it cannot allocate a globally unique GTIN, and a number you invent here is not registered to you.

Official company prefixes and GTINs are issued only by GS1. Self-generated numbers are appropriate for internal purposes such as asset tags and warehouse labels. Using an unallocated or someone else's number on products sold through retail is at your own risk, and we accept no responsibility for rejected products, relabelling costs or disputes arising from it.

Acceptable use

• Do not use the tools to create codes intended to impersonate another company's products or to defraud anyone.
• Do not encode unlawful content, malware or links to it in a QR code or other 2D symbol.
• Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape at scale or reverse-engineer the site, or to strip or interfere with the advertising it carries.
• Do not present the site as your own product or resell access to it.

Intellectual property

The site's name, design, text and code are ours or our licensors'. The barcode rendering engine is third-party open-source software used under its own licence. Barcode symbologies themselves are published standards administered by GS1, ISO/IEC and other bodies; their names and trademarks belong to those organisations and are used here only descriptively.

Advertising and third-party links

The site is funded by advertising, including Google AdSense, and may link to third-party sites. We do not control advertisers' or third parties' content, products or privacy practices and are not responsible for them. How advertising cookies work is described in the privacy policy.

No warranty

The tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind. We aim to implement each symbology correctly, but we do not warrant that output is error-free, that it will be accepted by any particular scanner, printer, retailer or authority, or that the site will be uninterrupted. Always verify a sample before a production print run.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost profits, wasted print runs, relabelling costs, rejected shipments or lost data, arising from your use of the site. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms; the current version always appears on this page with the date below. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
